NRA Endorses Donna Campbell for Reelection to Texas Senate

Gun-rights Group Gives Freshman Senator A+ Rating

SAN ANTONIO – State Senator Donna Campbell earned an A+ rating and the endorsement of the National Rifle Association in her bid for reelection to the State Senate.

“Your rating and endorsement are based on your strong record of leadership on issues of importance to gun owners and sportsmen in the Texas Legislature,” said Tara Reilly Mica, NRA-ILA State Liaison.

Senator Campbell authored a number of bills important to Texas gun owners, including Senate Bill 864.  Signed by the governor, the bill streamlines the minimum number of hours to obtain a concealed-carry license while preserving the instructional materials and range proficiency requirements.  As a result, more law-abiding Texans will have the opportunity to earn their CHL.

“Second Amendment rights are the bedrock of our liberty and I will always make protecting these rights a priority,” Senator Campbell said.  “I will continue to push for legislation that guarantees the right to defend our families and block any efforts to disarm Texas citizens.”

Senator Campbell was named as a Top Five Courageous Conservative earlier this year for her overall work in the 83rd Legislature.  She faces two primary opponents in 2014 with the election scheduled for March 4.

Senator Campbell is an emergency room physician representing Senate District 25, which includes all or parts of Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, and Travis counties.
