SAN ANTONIO– Senator Donna Campbell released the following statement regarding the vote by the San Antonio City Council to enforce a new mandatory paid sick leave ordinance on businesses that operate in the City of San Antonio, regardless of size or profitability:
“Today’s vote by the San Antonio City Council is extremely disappointing and disheartening for the job creators, entrepreneurs, and multi-generational family-owned restaurants who represent the blood, sweat, and tears of our city. If left unchallenged, this California-sized overreach into the daily operations of private businesses will have a negative effect on wages and jobs while making it harder for small businesses to stay open. I stand ready to introduce legislation that protects the rights of business owners and the best interests of the Texas economy.”
