Senator Donna Campbell Recognizes S.A. Purple Heart Ranch Supporting Wounded Veterans

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded on the premise that active participation in the outdoors is a powerful, healing, and fundamentally life-changing experience, has been honored to have its Thumbtack Ranch to become the first ranch in the United States to be designated as a “Purple Heart Ranch” by the National Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH). A formal ceremony recognizing this Purple Heart designation will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9th, 2018, during the Central Texas Field of Honor in Georgetown, Texas.

MOPH Texas Capital Chapter 1919 in Austin and Alamo Chapter 1836 in San Antonio made the joint nomination based upon Trinity Oaks’ unwavering support to combat wounded service members and their families during the past several years. The nominations were endorsed by the Texas Department of MOPH, and a proclamation was presented to the Texas Senate for signature. The Texas Senate Proclamation, authored by Senator Donna Campbell, also recognizes Trinity Oaks as a “Purple Heart Supporter” organization.

The MOPH Registry creates an honorary, symbolic system of roads, highways, bridges, waterways and other landmarks across the nation to celebrate the service of the men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart; it is truly fitting that these courageous Americans receive special recognition.

Thumbtack Ranch is Trinity Oaks’ 2,000-acre sportsmen’s paradise located in Batesville, Texas, 90 minutes south of San Antonio. The property offers an extensive lodging complex, shooting ranges, and year-round access to hunting and fishing experiences. Thumbtack Ranch serves as the primary venue for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities where the non-profit, veteran-related organization Trinity Oaks provides exceptional support, friendship and opportunities for underprivileged children and combat-wounded veterans to re-connect with the outdoors.

“The State of Texas has and always will do right by our veterans. It is my honor to play a small role in the Texas Senate paying tribute to the men and women who have earned the Purple Heart for their extreme sacrifices in service to our nation and extend this recognition to those who truly support these heroes,” said Senator Donna Campbell, of Texas’ 25th District and the Chair for Senate Veteran Affairs and Border Security Committee. “The State of Texas is proud to designate Trinity Oaks’ Thumbtack Ranch as the first Purple Heart Ranch in the nation and Trinity Oaks as an official Purple Heart Supporter.”
