AUSTIN – Senator Campbell released a statement following the Governor’s roundtable discussions, showing her support for security improvements and mental health reforms after the tragic shooting at Santa Fe High School.
“I am proud to stand with Governor Abbott to ensure the safety and well-being of Texas children in our schools. Many valuable proposals came out of the Governor’s talks with victims, families, mental health professionals, and law enforcement, and I am committed to help pass and fund as many of these legislative solutions as possible. Protecting Texas citizens and defending our second amendment rights are not mutually exclusive, but go hand-in-hand to make our communities safer. I commend Governor Abbott for his leadership and would only add that we ensure Texas children are instilled with strong moral values as part of their early education, because creating good citizens is just as important as building a strong workforce.”
